The price of loving you

Okay I actually really love this one, especially the last stanza. I wrote that one first and then decided to add more to it because four measly lines wasn’t enough, so I turned it into a bit of a story about a relationship going sour. It was inspired by some other poetry I was reading, and it just moves so nicely… Oh I’m so proud of myself for writing something decent! It’s been forever since I’ve written something I’m truly happy with. Okay, without further ado, here’s the price of loving you.

Giddy hearts and midnight walks
Gentle starts and silly talks
Blissful, but short lived, I knew
There’d be a price for loving you

Pretty moments and empty words
Constant absence and whispers heard
Our rose coloured glasses slip from view
What’s the price of loving you?

Faked delight and silent cries
Sleepless nights and red rimmed eyes
Deep in debt and oh so blue
Guess that’s the price of loving you
